Pterygium refers to a condition of the eye caused by the abnormal growth of conjunctiva; a dense growth of tissue across the cornea. It basically grows from the nasal side of Sclera. The main causes of Pterygium are either too much exposure to sunlight i.e the UV rays, or the environmental irritants like dust, wind or even low humidity.
