Cataract is the phenomenon of the clouding of the natural lens of the eye. This natural lens is located behind the iris and pupil and helps focus light and enables clear vision. As one ages the lens of the eye becomes dense and cloudy and so the light entering the eye becomes scattered. This causes hazy vision. Cataract may also be present at birth or develop as a result of physical, drug, or chemical injury. During cataract surgery, the cloudy lens is removed or cleaned out and replaced by a clear, manmade lens.

If you, or a loved one, are suffering from cataract then Vista Eye Specialists provide the latest, most innovative technologies, including premium intraocular lens implants (IOLs) to cure you. At Vista Eye Specialists, the Carl Zeiss Meditec IOL Master® is used which has been given the stamp of approval by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) since March 2000. This advanced technology is used at Vista Eye Specialists to evaluate the length of the eye, surface curvature, and intraocular lens power. Testing is speedy and accurate and takes a fleeting one minute or less per eye while the patient is safe and at ease. With the IOL Master, nothing touches the eye itself thus, there is no need for anesthesia and there is no room for falling prey to an eye infection.

The IOL Master gives a five fold increase in accuracy over measurements made by traditional A-scan ultrasonography devices. At Vista Eye Specialists, Intraocular lenses such as ReZoom™, ReSTOR®, Tecnis, and Crystalens® are used to replace the natural crystalline lens of the eye or as a form of refractive surgery to improve vision.

Vision improvement is generally so immense that patients may no longer need eyeglasses or contacts. It is natural to be paranoid or anxious about any kind of surgery, but cataract is the one of the most common operations performed in the U.S. With Vista Eye SpecialistsDr. Jani and his experienced team will be willing to discuss the surgery and its options with you in detail to put you at ease.

You may prefer to be awake during the surgery or a sedative may also be given and numbing drops placed on the eyes. The surgery lasts less than an hour and you may return home. After cataract surgery one may experience slight irritation for which our doctors will prescribe a pain reliever. One may also experience sensitivity and wearing dark glasses is recommended. With Vista Eye Specialists as your health care choice, you may rest assured that your sight is in the best hands.
