“The discrepancy doesn’t lay in the awareness the benefits carrots has to offer, but the problem lies in realizing how critical the need is” says Dr. Jani, cornea specialist holding an expertise in Laser Vision Correction, Cataract surgery, Glaucoma treatment, Blepheroplasty, Botox, Ophthalmic Plastics and Diabetic Eye Care.

The faced paced lives and the outbursts of short cut junk food pose a lucrative option for the generation of today to indulge in. Children and youngsters prefer the fat- laden burgers, hi-cholesterol fries and carbonated drinks anytime over healthy food. Dr. Jani along with all the ophthalmic experts at Vista Eye are queried time and again on the importance of carrots for the eye and most importantly the way they can convince their children of their importance and inculcate in their daily diet plans.

There are two aspects to the question, first this should be established and clarified that carrots definitely do not treat a bad eye, promising a 20/20 vision. Second it definitely and surely delays the weakening of the eye sight as the beta carotene present in it is converted by the body into Vitamin A which is an active ingredient for eye health. The vitamin helps in keeping the surface of the eye and eye lids healthy at the same time beta carotene offers as a shield for your eyes acting as a potent antioxidant.

However for the second part of the question to involve your children in healthy diet we at Vista Eye would always advice the lucrative way the vegetable could be served, like a tempting dip accompanied with it would serve the purpose of offering a temptation to the taste buds meanwhile pulling off the effectiveness and essentiality of the carrot. Children however are smart today and once a while educating them of the benefits of the vegetable could really help in breaking the ice.

Well it’s about time we stop shouting at our children to give rest to those video games while fearing the negative effects of it on their eyes. The latest research and evidence suggest that many video games actually develop and benefit the eye rather than only cause damage to it. Tetris has been confirmed as the game effectively used by practitioners worldwide now in the treatment of Ambylopia.

Ambylopia commonly known as a lazy eye is an early childhood condition which results in an unsatisfactory development of vision in one eye which may later if remain untreated affect both eyes. Basically its actually the condition of the brain hence its more accurate to say that it’s more of the lazy brain than the fault of the eye as it’s the brain which fails to focus on each eye equally, which results in the hazardous misbalance.

Statistics suggests that in UK and USA around 2% to 3% of all children are a victim of Ambylopia. Owing to the rise of children falling a prey to lazy eyes its better for the parents to remain on guard for any symptoms of it that may include blurred vision, double vision, poor depth perception, a squint or simply the failure of the eyes to work in unity.

The Journal Current Biology in its new study suggests that the classic puzzle type game Tetris of the 80’s actually help a great deal in treatment of the Lazy Eye. Since the game requires rapid eye movements and focus on the shape of the falling block, the game is said to make the desired improvement. Experts at Vista Eye support the research and treat children with games like Tetris and other rapid eye movement and quick focus exercises to activate the laze brain network for active function and efficient control.

One of the most frequently asked question from our experts at Vista Eye is “When should my child have his/her eye exam done?” and no doubt this is one of the most important question that a concerned parent in today’s time would ask, owing to the overexposure to various appliances with an eye blinding glare, of high definition and resolution theatres, television sets, Ipads and cell phones.

However here, we at Vista Eye would like to also elaborate on some of the misconceptions that parents hold regarding the eye exam of their children. First and foremost this should be remembered that the vision screening that is generally organized by schools is definitely not a complete comprehensive exam of your child’s eye and in no way determines the total health conditions of the eye. It only and solely depends on the results of the reading ability of the child of the eye chart from a certain specified distance. They certainly don’t take care of any visual challenges and development problem that the child may develop or is even developing. Hence it is important not to rely on visual screening only, and to get your child’s eye exam done as soon as any problem is detected, be it a day year old infant!

your child’s eye exam done as soon as any problem is detected, be it a day year old infant! Secondly, a child in no way is supposed to know their alphabet or be able to verbalize to undergo a comprehensive eye exam. At VistaEye we have a tirade of different options catering the design solely for the young toddlers and children.

Thirdly, often our children are unable to express their visual problems; hence it is advised by our Vista Eye experts to get your child’s eye tested once before the age of 4. A recent study indicates that 60% of the children that have been identified as having a learning disorder actually suffer from undetected visual conditions and have nothing to do with any impairment of the mind and ability.

The rising ophthalmic problems in youngsters and children have caused deep concerns health wise. The overexposure to computer screens, cellular games and other multimedia has caused the relatively young children to fall prey to issues of near and far sightedness. Vista Eye along with their ophthalmologists has always recommended a number of precautions to be taken to protect your eyes before and after such conditions.
Anti Reflective Coating of the eye glasses is one of such measure which avoids the discrepancy of back glare which is a common problem of prescription glasses and sunglasses. The light hits the back of the lens and bounces into the eyes. Hence the purpose of these anti reflective glasses is to keep the glare of these reflections away from the eye and minimize the damage caused due to its exposure.
At Vista Eye we believe in providing products which safeguard the interests of our customers hence we always recommend your glasses to have an anti reflective coating on it. These anti reflective coated glasses provide benefits when driving and when viewing the computer screen for long hours. Anti reflective coatings is a good idea especially for sunglasses as it eliminates the glare from the sun avoiding the reflection in your eyes from the back surface of the tinted lenses when the sunlight is behind you.
The anti reflective coating is made up of a very hard thin film that has an index of refraction that is somewhere between air and glass. The above science helps the reflection from both the inner and outer surfaces to be the same. If applied at a distance of a quarter of the lights wavelength, the two reflections from each side of the film cancel each other hence minimizing the glare you see.
Similarly experts at Vista Eye advice proper care of the AR glasses. Harsh cleaners and chemicals must be avoided for they may damage the anti reflective coating.
