Eyes are the mirror to ones soul. Eyes are the windows which look at the world and learn and savor color and texture; people and places. Surveys have shown that people dread losing the sense of sight more than any other sense. Thus, one might think that eyes should be a part of the human anatomy which should be given the utmost care. Unfortunately, most people wait for some discomfort in the eyes to go and see their eye doctor.

A regular eye check-up should be part of your full-medical checkup. At Vista Eye Specialists we will ensure that your sight is in the best hands. The dedicated team of eye specialists under Dr. Jani at Vista Eye will conduct a baseline screening which is crucial to identify signs of eye disease at an early stage. Early stage treatments can have the greatest impact on preserving vision.

The American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends a baseline eye examination at 40 years of age. This is the age when early signs of disease or changes in vision may occur. However, one must not wait till you touch forty to get your comprehensive eye examination especially if you have an eye disease or if you have a risk factor for developing one, such as diabetes, high blood pressure or a family history of eye disease.

Just make an appointment at Vista Eye and rest assured that we will make your vision our priority. Your comprehensive eye exam at Vista Eye may take from one to three hours. Our team of ophthalmologists will first take your medical history in detail. Then you visual acuity will be determined by letting you read a standardized eye chart to determine how well you see at various distances, one eye at a time.
You may also be seated and asked to peruse an eye chart through a phoroptor, which contains different lenses to help determine the best eyeglass or contact lens prescription to correct any refractive error you may have, such as myopia.

The doctors at Vista Eye Specialists will then evaluate how your pupils respond to light. Loss of side vision can occur without one realizing it. Thus, at Vista Eye our team of eye experts test side vision as it can be a symptom of glaucoma. The front part of the eye including the eyelids, iris, cornea and lens as well as retina and optic nerve which are located at the back of your eye, will also be subjected to thorough examination.

Our reliable and methodical team at Vista Eye Specialists will also conduct a test on ocular motility or eye movement to determine eye alignment and ocular muscle function. This will be followed by tonometry or eye pressure testing which measures intraocular eye pressure or IOP. A rise in IOP is a sign of Glaucoma. Our scrupulous team at Vista Eye Specialists might also suggest additional testing as per need.

So don’t put off your eye exam—make an appointment with Vista Eye Specialists now and unburden your sight troubles on our experienced shoulders.
