It’s impossible to fathom our lives independent of computer, cell phone and television screens. After having a long day of work sitting in front of our computer screens and then for entertainment purposes using the television and even the cell phone, all require the use of the eyes.

Although life’s become simpler, more efficient and accessible with these accessories however it does come up with certain health disadvantages as well. The most controversial and talked about is of course the negative impact of these devices on the eyes.

Experts give an estimate of 50% to 90% of the computer users experience a certain degree of eye strain or other symptoms of Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) during their work day. Ignore it may we, but it’s a researched fact that eye strain and CVS are the core causes of inefficient productivity, fatigue and casual errors in the work procedures.

Our visual experts at Vista Eye have long identified some of the core causes of CVS and eye strain and hence suggest some precautionary measures that must be taken to minimize the adverse effects of the prolonged use of computers and other like devices. First and foremost is the proper use of lightning, not too much and not too less, the lightning in the room should be properly adjusted to minimize too much strain to the eye.

Many of us are found staring at the computer screens for long hours without even blinking our eyes. It is very important that we blink often for it gives time for the eye to relax, keep moist, comfortable and clear. Frequent short breaks, like a 5 minute mini break is a great help and simple ones like a quick eye shut, stretch of the neck or muscles help a lot too.

Frequent and timely eye exams are always advised by our experts at Vista Eye to remain up to date and alert about any eye concern that needs to be addressed.
